Daytime Calm Focus: Caffeine, Melatonin and Supplement Labels

Daytime wellness products can contain stimulants, calming ingredients, melatonin or combinations of these. Reading the full label helps you choose a product that fits the time of day and your intended routine.

Caffeine

Caffeine is a stimulant and may affect people differently. Check all sources in your routine, including coffee, tea, energy drinks and supplements. Product labels should state whether caffeine is present and how much is supplied.

Melatonin

Melatonin is generally associated with nighttime use. A product intended for daytime use should clearly state whether it contains melatonin. Do not assume that every “calm” product is melatonin-free.

Ashwagandha, rhodiola and L-theanine

These ingredients are commonly used in daytime formulas. Review the exact extract, standardization and amount per serving. Avoid relying on broad terms such as “blend” when the individual amounts are not provided.

Building a simple routine

  • Choose the product by its stated purpose and label information.
  • Follow the suggested serving and timing.
  • Compare ingredients before combining products.
  • Do not exceed the suggested amount.
  • Consult a healthcare professional when appropriate.
